Job Summary: 

As an IT Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the organization's IT systems and infrastructure. You will provide technical support to end-users, ensure the security of IT assets, and contribute to the implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to end-users regarding hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
  • Respond to help desk tickets and resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.

Network Administration:

  • Monitor and manage the organization's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Configure and maintain network services such as DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLANs.
  • Ensure network security by implementing access controls, intrusion detection systems, and regular security audits.

System Administration:

  • Administer servers and virtualization platforms to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Perform regular system backups, updates, and patches to safeguard data and maintain system integrity.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize disruptions to business operations.

Security Management:

  • Implement and maintain security protocols, policies, and procedures to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
  • Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and remediate potential security risks.
  • Provide user education and awareness training on cybersecurity best practices.

IT Infrastructure Management:

  • Manage IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and subscriptions.
  • Plan and execute IT infrastructure projects, such as network upgrades, server migrations, and cloud migrations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to improve IT operations and efficiency.

Documentation and Training:

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on IT tools, systems, and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the IT team and across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in IT support, network administration, or system administration.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, macOS) and network protocols.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA) are a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily takes place in an office environment, but may involve occasional travel to different locations.
  • May require working outside of standard business hours to address emergencies or perform scheduled maintenance.
  • Must be able to lift and carry IT equipment and work in confined spaces when necessary.
